“Sacred Splendor: Vaishno Devi Temple’s Spiritual Allure Amid Trikuta Mountains”

When the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board was established in 1986, a large number of Hindu pilgrims began to visit Jammu’s most well-known religious destination.

A Hindu priest named Pandit Sridhar is credited with discovering the sacred grotto of Mata Vaishno Devi. In the priest’s dream, the goddess Vaishnavi showed up and gave him instructions on how to locate her dwelling on the Trikuta Hills. After receiving her instructions, the priest sets out on his mission and arrives in the cave as directed. He saw Mata Vaishno Devi, who gave him the gift of four sons.

Despite being open all year long, the best time to visit the Mata Vaishno Devi Temple is from March through October. Pilgrimages are also well-liked by devotees during the auspicious Navratras season.

Story of Mata Vaishno Devi

The goddesses who produced Mata Vaishno Devi requested her to live on earth and devote her time to achieving a high degree of consciousness. She was born as Vaishnavi. Lord Rama later gave her instructions, and she followed them, to build an Ashram, practise meditation, and advance her spirituality at the foot of the Trikuta Hills.

Mahayogi Guru GorakshNathji sent his student Bhairon Nath to see if the goddess had acquired a higher level of spirituality when she began to reside in Trikuta Hills in Katra. But as time went on, Bhairon Nath began to lose his sense of purpose, fall in love with her, and nag her to wed him.

Vaishnavi went to the mountains to continue her Tapasya/meditation unhindered, but Bhairon Nath pursued her. Bhairon Nath was murdered by the goddess, and as he was passing away, he prayed for pardon after realising his error. Not only did Mata Vaishno Devi pardon him, but she also offered him a blessing. The Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra cannot be finished until every pilgrim has seen Bhairon after receiving the goddess’ darshan.

How to Reach Mata Vaishno Devi Temple?

A 13-kilometer hike from Katra town in the Jammu Region will bring you to the Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage site, where the goddess manifests herself in the holy pindies in the sanctum sanctorum (cave), a natural rock structure.  Through a tunnel, the pilgrims reached the sanctum sanctorum of this revered shrine in Jammu. However, due to its narrowness, two new tunnels that facilitate the fast passage of pilgrims who arrive here in queues have been built.
